The Oscars were held last night and are seen as the most glamorous night in Hollywood. Celebs dress to impress hoping to land a spot on the best dressed list or even better yet—best dressed of the night. While some stars really captivated spectators with stunning gowns on the red carpet, others left much to be desired.
Here are our picks for best and worst dressed at The Oscars 2014.
BEST DRESSED
Lupita Nyong’o
Once again Lupita has made everyone’s jaw drop in a custom made Prada gown. The silhouette was stunning and headband was the perfect accessory but the color of the gown is what really stood out. Lupita said that the color reminded her of her home in Nairobi. Well done, Lupita!
Cate Blanchet
Cate was undoubtedly one of the night’s best dressed stars and rightfully so. She wore a nude colored Armani dress with embellishments that was worthy of The Oscars. It hugged the top half of her silloutette perfectly and was just the right shade of nude for skintone.
Charlize Theron
For many, Charlize was the best dressed of the night. She wore a black Dior dress that hugged her curves and a beauitful train that had sheer accents in the middle. She looked amazing but we wish there was more to her look because LBD’s aren’t the exact definition of exciting.
Portia De Rossi
The First Lady of the Oscars (techinically speaking since she is Ellen’s wife) stunned everyone in a patterned, see through Naeem Khan dress. Portia looked breathtaking from hair to makeup and accessories—a true beauty. Although we didn’t see much of her and Ellen together that night, they took the best looking couple award for sure.
WORST DRESSED
Liza Minnelli
It’s safe to say that Liza is one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars but her wardrobe isn’t included. She wore a blue satin 2-piece last night that really made us cringe. It was boring, didn’t flatter her, and worst of all, we hate to say this but, she was missing her brassiere. We couldn’t help but look away since we felt bad for her. She at least tried to be fun with a blue streak of hair to match her unsightly ensemble.
Kerry Washington
The “Scandal” star showed up the red carpet wearing a dusty purple Jason Wu dress. The dress had a slit on the right side and wasn’t the most flattering on her. It also was super wet and full of wrinkles everywhere. We’re guessing the weather had a lot to do with that but it doesn’t save her from our worst dressed.
Anne Hathaway
Eeek! We’re completely torn about where to place Anne but in the end placed her on the worst dressed. She didn’t necesarilly look too bad in her black Gucci dress with crystals on the upper part but we’re not sure if the damage to our retinas can be cured. The crystals shined so bright that whenever she stood in front of a flashing camera, we had to look away. Her hair and makeup looked perfect but those crystles really hurt her look in the end.
