Gucci makes magic with Essence

If you haven’t heard of Essence Magazine, you’re missing out. As a leading monthly magazine for African-American women that has been around since 1970, the team at Essence is always looking for new ways to promote its content. Most recently, the magazine decided to team up with the designer brand, Gucci, and global luxury group, Kering, for a very special preview of Fashion House.

Fashion House is “a three-day experience featuring fashion shows, panels, and pop-up shops during Essence Festival weekend.” While the excitement over the luxury fashion collaboration was already enough to celebrate, Antoine Phillips, Gucci’s Vice President of Brand & Culture Engagement, announced their New Orleans launch of Gucci Changemakers. Gucci Changemakers is the Italian fashion label’s ongoing global scholarship fund and program promoting diversity and inclusion.

In addition to the new partnerships mentioned above, the Fashion House at the Essence Festival also included an opportunity for New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology’s marching band and students to closely mingle with some of the top influencers in the industry.
