KKW is bringing Mugler back

Kim Kardashian West broke the Internet again when she wore not one, but two Grecian inspired vintage Thierry Mugler designs to an event celebrating the designer’s museum exhibition at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts back in February. Since then Mugler’s designs are coming back to the spotlight thanks to Kim Kardashian West rocking his iconic designs.

Kim shared on Instagram her avant-garde fashion choices for the night. Her first number flowing, one-shoulder dress accented with a formfitting golden bodice which was reminiscent of her KKW Body fragrance bottle. She then made a quick change into a white, statuesque, art-deco inspired mini dress with matching winged armbands.

It’s safe to say the Mugler is Kim’s latest obsession. If you’re keeping track, this is the fourth time the reality starlet has been spotted in a piece from the Mugler vault this month. Vintage Mugler has also been getting a lot of love from Cardi B this month. The rapper made a historic Grammy moment choosing to wear a piece from his 1995 collection.

A handful of Mugler’s theatrics and avant-garde designs are set to be displayed in this year’s camp-themed Met Gala exhibition – which would explain all the renewed interests around the iconic designers’ work.

The 90s interest has been mainstream for quite a while now, although the revival focused mostly on the decade’s minimalist movement. It looks as if the trend is continuing to evolve to focus more on subculture trends birthed during the era like Mugler’s avant-garde designs and futuristic fashion that emerged as the world was approaching Y2K.
