The headband is making a comeback

Blair Waldorf, this one is for you. The revival of the headband is hardly new—linen and eyelet, plaid gingham and denim, and neon cotton headbands were one of summer’s biggest hair trends. But this functional piece doesn’t seem to be leaving for fall, instead, it’s just shifting vibes a little.

Jewel tones, velvet and velour, ribbed textures, and gems and pearls have taken over the padded headband trend. They are the perfect way to bring life back to mid-wash cycle hair and an easy accessory for work or play.

They functionally hold down flyways during windy winter days without the harsh grip of a strong hairspray. There’s a reason they were so prominent for so many years, and their revival is much appreciated.

Prompted by the overwhelming success of the sold-out Lele headbands, retailers everywhere began making their own versions of the $100+ headbands at a fraction of the price. Now they can easily be found at Urban Outfitters, Target, Nordstrom, and even Amazon.
