Look out for this color on the runways for 2020

Approaching a time of great change—from the turning of a calendar to the turn of a decade—2020 is set to be monumental in pushing for change in various aspects of everyday life. Environmentally, ethically, socially, legally… it is predicted to be an important year historically, and all that change and fight and work requires a lot of energy, thought, tireless commitment.

In turn, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2020 is something we all are going to need a bit of — Classic Blue. A shade founded in nature and the circadian rhythm, the shade gives a natural calming effect and is inherently comforting.

While the Color of the Year may be big in branding, architecture, and design, it is equally big in fashion. This color has already been seen popping up on various runways (even for Spring/Summer) and has become a go-to favorite of many celebrities.

Because of its universally flattering nature and the way it serves simultaneously as a neutral and color, you really can’t go wrong with this deep blue. The royal family (Kate and Megan) has been big proponents of the tone—even wearing it at the same time on two totally different occasions—as well as multiple stars at the British Fashion Awards, and a handful of high-fashion designers.

Time to pack up the baby blue sweaters and purchase a deep blue blouse!
