Chanel plans for upcoming destination runway show

The French luxury brand has big plans for the upcoming Cruise 2022 collection including a destination runway show planned for May. Chanel will be transporting the runway from the city to the country in the South of France once again for the destination setting of the idyllic limestone quarries.

The idyllic limestone quarries of Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence is located in a small town in the South of France providing a unique destination that’s become more popular with tourists over the last couple of years. This unique looking limestone quarry has inspired backdrops of several art installations by Van Gogh and Cézanne.

The Cruise 2022 show will also mark the first time Chanel’s creative director, Virginie Viard, will be hosting a runway show at the venue. Viard is confident that the runway show will be planned for May 4 despite having to cancel the previous Cruise 2021 runway show in Capri due to showdowns in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The last runway show hosted by Chanel was an exclusive affair for the Métiers d’Art collection only featuring one audience member, actress and Chanel ambassador Kristen Stewart. Chanel’s upcoming Paris Couture show will also be a limited engagement as a digital-only event and confirmed the event will have no audience permitted to attend.

For now, it seems that there will be no audience for the Chanel 2022 runway shows but will be available to watch online.
