Pastels With A Side Of Sequins And Floral
In case you didn’t know, pastel coral is the new millennial pink.
The decision was officially made in September, when Marc Jacobs debuted his Spring 2019 collection, a pastel themed wonderland that captivated the fashion industry and has influenced this season’s top trends.
If you haven’t watched the show yet, its a must. The collection is hailed as one of strongest from Jacobs to date. A few styles including a full length coral coat and tiered pink rosette dresses have been all over the pages of Vogue and W. It truly was a moment of beauty that has transcended the runway.
The pioneering designer did what he did best, re-worked the constructs of pastel hues including corals, soft pinks, and powder blues. The majority of his looks were monochromic with a mixing of the elements and shapes bringing in sequins and feathers wiping away any notion that pastels could be stuffy or bland. The runways show also marked the rebirth of the flower choker necklace – which speaking as a teenage Carrie Bradshaw wannabe, I am all in.
As if the clothes weren’t enough, Jacobs’ also has his hand in the top beauty looks for the season. The designer created created a major fashion moment dying models hair to match the color of the ensemble. This also gave us the dawn of the pastel coral hair which is sure to be coming to Pinterest board near you.
If you’re anything like me, and craving to see the pieces in person, the designs are on display in their full glory at Marc Jacobs flagship store in New York City.
