Oscar winner and “12 Years a Slave” star Lupita Nyong’o was named People magazine’s most beautiful woman.
The 31 year-old Mexican born Kenyan actress is widely known for her great acting skills and her beautiful physical presentation but her darling character really sets her apart from the rest.
“It was exciting and just a major, major compliment,” she said. “I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [it] and feel a little more seen.”
Although we know her for her confidence, Lupita admits that she wasn’t always that way especially through her adolescent years: “Light skin and long, flowing, straight hair,” she tells People. “Subconsciously you start to appreciate those things more than what you possess.”
Lupita added that her mother Dorothy “always said I was beautiful and I finally believed her at some point.”
