The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place in Shanghai, China Monday evening, and was broadcasted last night. This is the first time the women’s clothing line has held this event in China. Victoria’s Secret opened a flagship store in Shanghai in February of this year.
The fashion show is considered one of the most prestigious gigs a model can land. Gaining your “Angel Wings” – intricately designed pairs of wings given to the most highly regarded models in the show – is a whole other privilege. Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner were the newest models to receive their wings last year in 2016.
Brazilian born Adriana Lima is the longest serving Victoria’s Secret Angel ever. She is also the highest earning VS model in 2016, according to Forbes. Lima walked her first Angel show in 1999 and is now worth an estimated $75 million. She is so popular that she has 11.3 million followers on her Instagram account. Additionally, she is a spokesmodel for Maybelline cosmetics and has been in Super Bowl and Kia Motors commercials as well. At the age of 15, Lima won Ford’s “Supermodel of Brazil“ competition.
Lima says she is not set to retire yet – she told interviewers that she has “at least two more years” to go before she hangs up her Angel wings. In addition to the gorgeous colorful angel wings and skimpy lingerie, the show also boasts an A-list group of entertainers. This year’s musical guests include Harry Styles, Miguel, and Leslie Odom Jr.
