One of the biggest nail trend’s for the upcoming Spring season are manicures with negative space. No, we don’t mean a negative space like when you’re stuck in a room with your frenemy because that trend wouldn’t go over so well. The negative space manicure refers creating whatever manicure you like while keeping parts of the nail naked. The trend was seen all over the Spring 2015 runways and from designers like Tadashi Shoji and Opening Ceremony and proved that nail art isn’t dead quite yet.

Check out some easy ways you can be on trend with this season’s hottest nail art trend.

NegativeSpaceBare French manicure. We love French manicures but after you’ve applied the pink or nude colored coat on your nails and then apply the white tip, there’s no going back. If you mess up that perfect line, you have to take off the whole thing and start all over again. Thanks to this trend, just buff your nails and apply a clear coat if you wish and create your French tip with your favorite color. You can even create a half-moon on the base of the nails to make it look extra cool.

Peek-a-boo nails. If you’re a little lazy but have steady hands, try just painting half of your nails. It’s a way of making a statement and thinking outside of the box. This type of nail art works also a statement accessory to your outfit so pick a color that goes well with what you’re wearing.

Checkered nails. The best part of negative space nails is that you don’t need as much polish. After you’ve prepped your nails by buffing the surface and shaping them well, create a checkered print by using a straight, pointed nail brush. You can also use nail art strips to get extra straight lines.
