Rare White Diamond Discovery

It has long been said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but what about white diamonds? It seems that in this case, the rarer, the better, and that’s exactly why we are so excited about this recent announcement.

It was recently shared by Rio Tinto that a rare, white diamond was unearthed in its Argyle Mine in Western Australia. This over 28-Carat diamond was discovered in March 2019, and it is one of the largest stones to ever be found in this mine.

Getting your hands on a stone like this can be pretty difficult, and likely very pricey. While we aren’t quite sure yet what the price estimate for this piece is, we do know that it will soon be auctioned off this year in Antwerp (a Belgium port city that handles a large number of diamond exchanges). They handle so many, in fact, that it is known as the diamond capital of the world.

While we can’t quite imagine what kind of jewelry a 28-Carat diamond could be used for, we envy whoever’s hands this stone falls into. For more information on the rare diamond that has been unearthed in Australia, take a look at the video above.
