Summer Is Coming
Finding the perfect summer dress is an intimate search between oneself and the store racks that happens every spring. Some years its tedious. Other years the perfect brunch date midi is right there on the racks calling your name. Whether your type of shopping trip, here’s the styles that you should keep an eye out for in Summer 2019.
Cutouts
You can thank the now iconic KKW mid-drift baring neon pink Yeezy body con dress for this one. Cutouts, especially those of the geometric kind, are in for this summer. Like the Yeezy dress, the cutouts are a play on the traditional silhouette that captures the experimental and futuristic movements that are on fire in street style ATM.
Bonus points for rocking your dress with sneakers like the starlet herself.
Prints
Fashion insiders are obsessed with bold prints of every shape, size, and flavor you can imagine. If you’re on the trendy side, go for something checkerboard a la Off-White. Animal prints are also a must-have for summer. We’re even seeing leopard print, layered on leopard print… and you know what, I don’t hate it.
Peekaboo Shoulder
Cold shoulder or one shoulder, however you want to rock it, break your shoulders out. A push back from more minimalistic and traditional dress styles that have been on the racks, peekaboo shoulders have a playful and flirtatious quality about them.
Sculptural Silhouettes
That’s right, this summer the hemlines are going asymmetrical, and we don’t have a problem with that. High low dresses had a major moment at couture fashion week with everyone from Zuhair Murad, Valentino, and Dior working the style in their show. If you’re going for a diagonal hemline make sure to pick a dress that starts the cut from the mid-thigh to elongate your frame.
