Kim Jones succeeds Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi

Fendi has announced its new women’s artistic director, Kim Jones, that will be replacing the late and longstanding director Karl Lagerfeld. The fashion legacy of Karl Lagerfeld with Fendi spans 54 years of creating iconic Italian womenswear.

Jones is a 46-year-old British designer who entered the fashion industry working for Central Saint Martins and owned his own brand for some time. Like Lagerfeld, Jones has a history in the luxury fashion industry working as Louis Vuitton’s menswear designer for seven years and later appointed as the creative director of Dior Men’s in 2018.

Jones’ work appealed to younger fashionistas, known for mixing traditional suiting silhouettes and streetwear in menswear. Jones is also known for his iconic collaborations including Louis Vuitton x Supreme and Dior x Nike.

Fendi is one of the luxury brands among the LVMH fashion houses and the only remaining member of the Fendi family, Silvia Venturini Fendi, extends her warmest welcome to the Fendi family. Kim Jones will fulfill responsibilities for Fendi including designing women’s ready-to-wear, fur collections, and haute couture.

Jones’ first Fendi runway show will premiere during Milan Fashion Week that is currently scheduled for February.
