When it comes to being a creative powerhouse and boundless visionary, not many can stand next to Kanye West. The rapper/producer/entrepreneur/fashion designer (there’s more but you get the picture!) can add another item to his CV of great achievements: one freakishly amazing gift giver. Granted, the receiver in the great majority of his gifting efforts is his wife and mother to their four children, Kim Kardashian West. Even better, since giving amazing gifts to one’s significant other doubles the points in the gift-giving olympics.
The latest win that has everyone buzzing is a very personal, sentiment-filled item that will likely become a heavily-copied trend when it comes to romantic gift ideas.
West, 42, gave the 39-year-old “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star/entrepreneur/law student a vintage Cartier necklace, with a special twist: he had it engraved with an actual text message that he sent his wife – which she, taken aback by it, shared with the public. The message reads: “This is your life. Married with four kids. Get people out of jail. Cover of Vogue. Go to church every week with your family. Dreams come true.”
But, this is just the latest in the long list of West’s surprises for his lady love – and, let’s be frank since they’re very generous with sharing their intimate moments with the rest of us – we kind of get to enjoy in them a teeny bit ourselves.
Who could forget that Kenny G. serenade in a room overflowing with roses on Valentine’s Day?
Or how about the Lorraine Schwartz diamond choker as a push present for their firstborn child, North, now 7, estimated at $1 million?
Every girl dreams of a Birkin bag. But Kanye wouldn’t settle for gifting his bride with just a plain old’ regular kind: instead, he made sure Kim received a hand-painted version of the Hermes’ most sought-after staple, by renowned artist George Condo.
For Christmas 2015, Kanye famously showered Kim with 150 gifts. Some of the items on that list included a Louis Vuitton dress and a Prada jumpsuit, reportedly purchased by his assistant, whom the artist sent to Italy, where he proceeded to shop via Skype. We hope at least a few of the other items were some sort of pain relief balm since opening all those boxes could result in Kimmy’s hands cramping up.
In 2017, the master of gift-giving mixed in some new tricks into his game: when Kim began opening her Christmas presents, she was overjoyed to find some stuffed animals, a couple of Amazon gift cards and a longstanding subscription to Netflix. Who wouldn’t be?!
In reality, West had purchased stocks in his wife’s name for Netflix, Amazon, Disney, and Adidas (reportedly valued upwards of $100,000) proving once again, that the notion of “what to get a girl that has everything?” is not something that will ever dampen his game.
