Summer is in full force and also forcing us to think more practically when it comes to our daily makeup routine. Just like skincare, makeup should change with the weather and that means thinking a bit more strategically to keep your eyeliner from running or your makeup from melting off. Aside from SPF, there should be nothing heavy on your face to maximize staying power and maintain a well put-together look.

Here are some tips on how to lighten up the amount of products on your face for the perfect summer makeup look.

Go bare. Aside from your high SPF, try to not wear a full face of foundation. Instead, opt for a longwearing concealer and cover up dark circles, spots, and uneven skin tone around the nose and mouth. It’ll cover up the areas that you’re not confident about while still letting your skin breath.

BB or CC cream. If you have problematic skin, sometimes going bare isn’t an option for you so the next best thing is to opt for a base with light coverage, preferably with a velvet or matte finish. While it won’t provide as much coverage as a foundation, it will still cover up imperfections with added benefits like SPF and anti-aging.

Waterproof everything. One of the things women tend to complain about during the summer is mascara and eyeliner running. This happens because there is either too much moisture around the eye area or products aren’t waterproof. If you don’t have waterproof liner or mascara, make sure you powder the area around the eye with a translucent powder to prevent your product from running.

Multi-tasking makeup. Lip tints are the best example of a product that can be used in a few different ways, especially in warm weather. You can use a lip tint as a lip color and a blush if you want to ensure staying power. The same can be done with lipstick but because lipsticks tend to be creamy in texture, it’s more prone to wear-off a lot sooner than tint. Lip tints carry well so keep one in your purse for on the go touch-ups.
