Celebrity style at Sundance

Somewhere between the Fashion Weeks and the major awards season, stars flock to Park City, Utah for the cozy, charming and buzzy independent film festival that’s been known to shake things up – it’s where the next cool things usually make their debut, be it a breakout movie hit or the next big trend in fashion that everyone will be salivating over in a hot minute.

Sure, most of the attendees are there to promote their next big projects.

Officially.

They’re also there to showcase the coolest, cold-weather style choices and warm our hearts with their winning looks while infusing our long and dreary winter days with some major wardrobe-boosting inspo.

While attending the premiere of her documentary film “Miss Americana,” which opened the festival, Taylor Swift channeled old-Hollywood/modern board member of a major corporation coolness in head-to-toe plaid. She opted for a tailored wide-legged belted jumpsuit, coat and matching heels by Carmen March. In her signature Swift manner, she wore her blonde locks in a side part and topped off the spotless look with a strong red lip.

Plaid turned out to be one of the major trends that emerged this year, spotted also on Camila Medes, Rachel Brosnahan and Aubrey Plaza who chose the timeless design-feature for their appearance looks.

The coat game was strong — especially when it came to shearlings, which looked as cozy as they looked chic, worn by everyone from Jude Law to Alison Brie.

The winter fairytale-ish setting of Park City was propelled to another level of charming, with the vast use of winter white as the color many stars turned to, to give their looks that sophisticated-without-trying-too-hard vibe. Those that definitely succeeded were Kelly Rowland, Gina Rodriguez, Kerry Washington, and Tessa Thompson, who accented their outfits — or went all-in — with the color du jour.

Judging by the amount of animal print seen on coats, boots and even skirts, it’s safe to say that the investment you’ve made in it over the last few years (hey, we’re all guilty, so no worries!) were smart bets after all.

Ditto, when it comes to versatile midi skirts. The day-t0-night universally-flattering staple was spotted on countless attendees, including Eva Longoria, Sienna Miller, and Rebecca Hall. Yay for blending comfort and style, ladies!
