Katie Couric takes a trip to East Hampton in New York to visit the most influential chefs in all of the Hamptons, the Barefoot Contessa herself, Ina Garten.
Garten’s home in the Hamptons is everything you’d expect and more, but before the home was even designed she mapped out her garden first with her husband Jeffrey. Her home design is complemented with contemporary decor in the staple color of the Hamptons, white.
She also features simple accents to bring out the beauty of her home such as fresh flowers in a vase, that no surprise come straight from her garden. If you’re not jealous when you see her home, your jaw will drop when you see her office.
Garten’s office is actually right in her backyard. The barn behind her house may look simple on the outside, but the inside will seem familiar.
Her barn features a beautiful and massive kitchen with high ceilings. This kitchen may look familiar to some foodies because it’s where she films her show “Barefoot Contessa.”
Though not originally from the Hamptons, Ina Garten is now a known Hamptons icon. Garten started her humble beginnings in the Hamptons when she bought a specialty food shop for sale and naming it The Barefoot Contessa.
After 20 years of running her shop she decided to take on a new challenge to write a cookbook, launching her career to becoming a TV chef personality. Garten has written 11 cookbooks and is not stopping anytime soon.
Garten gives advice to people wanting to try new things that if your standing on the edge of a pond to just dive in.
