Even if it doesn’t get you to the gym, it will have you in a sporty mood because one of this season’s hottest runway trends is the “sporty chic” varsity dress. So yes, if you weren’t a lover of gym class in grade school you’ll at least look like it this summer. Many of the runways had tennis skirts, varsity jackets, and of course the sneaker wedge but, interestingly enough, what has become popular amongst the trendiest celebrities and personal style bloggers are the varsity dresses or oversized sporty t-shirt.
We’re not completely sure why this article of clothing has become so popular even though it wasn’t included in the runways but we’re not complaining. Super model Jourdan Dunn was seen recently spotted wearing an oversized sporty t-shirt in black and white with a beanie giving her that cool, sporty urban look. Try the Look
This look is one of the easiest and most comfortable looks to try. The varsity dress can be dressed up or dressed down so it just depends what look you’re going for. For the dressed up version, you’ll need to pair your dress with some ankle-strap heels. The sporty look tends to be laid back so you need to wear a sexy shoe to show that you can still look feminine. We recommend a red lip and for hair either a polished ponytail or a bun.
For the dressed down version you could pair the dress with some oxford style shoes and a messy ponytail. If you’re feeling a bit lazy and don’t want to wear eye makeup you could always opt for a pair of mirrored sunnies. Add a pink pout to brighten your face to finish off your look!
